Known for his deep connection to the streets and unwavering commitment to uplifting others, Porter has dedicated his life to creating safer, stronger communities across Northeast Ohio.

As the former president of Black on Black Crime Incorporated, Porter has been on the front lines of violence prevention—working directly within neighborhoods to mediate conflicts, mentor youth, and promote accountability, awareness, and healing.

Porter is also the creator and host of Al Porter’s Hip Hop Workshop, the longest-running hip hop radio show in the country, now celebrating over 14 years on the air. Broadcasting on Voice It Radio, the show has become a respected platform for artists, activists, and community voices—blending music, culture, and real conversations that matter.

Through his music, he voices real-life experiences, addresses social issues, and inspires listeners to rise above challenges. His artistry is an extension of his advocacy—using rhythm and words to educate, uplift, and spark change.

In addition to its radio success, Al Porter’s Hip Hop Workshop is also the longest-running event series at Cleveland State University, where it has served as a cultural cornerstone—bringing together students, artists, and the community for dialogue, performance, and empowerment.

Whether through music, media, or direct community engagement, Porter leads with authenticity, courage, and purpose—remaining present where it matters most: in the neighborhoods, on the airwaves, and in the lives of those seeking guidance and opportunity.
