Councilman Michael D. Polensek is one of Cleveland’s most dedicated and recognizable public servants, known for his unwavering presence, outspoken leadership, and lifelong commitment to the neighborhoods he serves. A proud native of Cleveland’s northeast side, he has spent nearly five decades advocating for residents and earning a reputation as a leader who is not only accessible, but consistently visible and deeply engaged in the community.

 

First elected to Cleveland City Council in 1977, Councilman Polensek is the longest-serving member in the history of the body. Throughout his tenure, he has represented several wards and currently serves the Collinwood community, where his deep roots continue to shape his hands-on approach to leadership. Whether addressing neighborhood concerns, advocating for public safety, or supporting local development, he has remained a constant and active voice for the people.

 

Widely recognized for his candid and direct style, Councilman Polensek has never hesitated to speak up on behalf of his constituents. His presence is felt not only in council chambers, but throughout the community—at neighborhood meetings, local events, and in ongoing conversations about the issues that matter most to residents. He has been a consistent advocate for safer streets, improved city services, and stronger community infrastructure.
